Tip #35
HEIGHT ILLUSION

To elongate a small frame, choose well-fitting clothing. Baggy clothes only shorten a short person! Very loose clothing draws the eye widthwise instead of heightening your frame. Also try patterns, stripes, stitching, or trims that run vertically. WE RECOMMEND: The Sis Pant

Tip #37

KNOW YOUR BODY SHAPE

Have you ever bought something just because it was trendy, regardless of how it looked on you? Garment shapes, cuts, and colors come and go and they are not always for everybody. If you know your body shape and what would suit you, and dress in a way that flatters your assets, you will always look fashionable and put together.

For the busty body type:

If you are well endowed on top, keep your tops simple and go for more eye-catching bottoms or accessories. WE RECOMMEND: The Lori Tank or Loop Bra with Sis Pant.

For the bottom heavy body type:

If you are heavier on the bottom, do the opposite. Go for voluminous or flashy tops and sleeker bottoms. Also, avoid contrasting tops where the hem falls at the widest part of your body. WE RECOMMEND: Sweetheart Tank or V-Bra with Madeline Pant.

For the straight body type:

If you are not very curvy, create curves by wearing clothes or accessories with waist detail, such as belted waists or seams/midriff details at the waist. WE RECOMMEND: Sis Pant

Tip #38

DRESS AGE APPROPRIATELY

Petite women often have trouble finding age appropriate clothing. Smaller people are generally viewed as younger. Therefore clothes in smaller sizes are usually for juniors or teenagers.

This is great when you are 17, but not so great when you are 30 or 40. Be sure to pay attention to the age appropriateness of clothing when you are buying it, in addition to the proper fit. You also don't want to go to the opposite extreme and end up looking older by wearing clothing that makes you look dowdy or frumpy.

At Sweet Petites, we have designed our clothing with a 'generational fit' in mind. While we offer some youthful styles such as the Sis Pant and V-Bra Top, we also have more conservative styles like the Madeline Pant and Lori Tank. We are continually evolving our line and we keep the different age groups in mind when we design our clothing.

Tip #36
LIFTING MORE WEIGHT

Don’t underestimate your strength! When lifting a certain amount of weight becomes easy, increase the weight rather than the repetitions. Many women are afraid to lift heavier weights because they don’t want bulky muscle. In reality it is very hard for a woman to get big “man-like” muscles because we don’t have the testosterone levels of men. Lifting heavier weights will save you time, tone and strengthen you faster, and make you feel better about your fitness progress.

Tip #39
DON'T OVER DO IT

Soreness is a sign that your body is repairing and building muscle fibers. It's a good thing. You shouldn't be afraid to be sore. However you don't want to strain your muscles too much by not allowing them to recover from soreness. This can cause permenent damage. When your body is very sore and you can't do exercises or lift weight you normally can, it's a sign you need rest.

The day after a tough workout, you can go for a light jog or short walk to get rid of some lactic acid and loosen you up a bit. This will help you recover faster.
